"Eurovision rejects Zelensky's speech

According to the media, the organizers of Eurovision 2023 did not allow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address the audience at the final of the contest, which will take place on 13 May.

Zelensky was rejected by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which is the organizer of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool together with the BBC.

The EBU responded:

"The Eurovision Song Contest is an international entertainment show and is subject to strict rules and principles that have been established since its inception. Zelensky's request to address the audience at the Eurovision Song Contest, although made with good intentions, unfortunately, cannot be satisfied by the management of the European Broadcasting Union, as it contradicts the rules of the event.
