Farmers in Poland find new reason to complain about Ukraine

Industrial apple prices in Poland are rising almost daily and continue to break records.
Polish farmers are outraged that Polish processing companies buy Ukrainian apples and ignore those that grow on Polish territory. EastFruit writes about it.
The reason for purchasing from Ukraine is lower prices: processors in Ukraine pay about 12-14 cents per kg (4.4-5 UAH/kg) for industrial apples. At the same time, apple prices in Poland are rising. Thus, this week the prices for apples in Poland, if compared to the end of last week, increased by more than 5% - up to USD 0.17 per kg on average. Apple varieties used for direct-pressed juices can be bought for 19 cents per kg. And the popular Gala variety sells for 36 cents per kg.
As the portal notes, Polish growers regularly accuse processors of buying apples for processing in Ukraine, where prices are much lower.
Currently, processors in Ukraine pay about 4.4-5.0 UAH/kg of industrial apple, which corresponds to $0.12-0.14 USD per kg," the report said.
Polish growers also complain that prices for apple for processing in neighbouring Germany are much higher than in Poland.
In October, apples (-29.2 per cent) and potatoes (-14.9 per cent) became significantly cheaper in Ukraine.
