- Germany urged to stop paying payments to male refugees

Germany has received a significant number of refugees from Ukraine on its territory.
About 200,000 of the 980,000 Ukrainians that Germany has taken in since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine could fight the Russians on the frontline rather than live in refugee status in the West. About this the Minister of the interior of Bavaria Joachim Hermann, writes Bild.
He called the situation with Ukrainian men in Germany "strange" and noted that many of those who receive benefits from the German government are conscripts, which means that Germany is helping them to evade their military duty.
It is unacceptable that we take them in and allow them to evade compulsory military service," the politician said.
He added that he "cannot get it into his head" that Germany does everything possible to support Ukraine in the war, "and then, on the other hand, we accept soldiers.
The least we can do is not to pay such an allowance to citizens, especially those who are really obliged to perform military service in their homeland and are needed there to defend peace and freedom," Hermann stressed.
He added that the topic of payments for Ukrainian refugees requires further study and discussion within the country.
In Germany, the share of Ukrainian refugees who have found jobs is critically low - it is about 25 per cent.
