How the bottom of the Kakhovka reservoir looks like after the terrorist attack

The researchers found out that in the absence of water, 200 thousand hectares of land turned into a desert. There are no living organisms left on this area - aquatic organisms have died, and non-terrestrial organisms have not yet appeared.

More than 200 thousand hectares of land was exposed, on which absolutely nothing grows, and before that there was an aquatic ecosystem. All aquatic organisms suddenly died, and terrestrial organisms have not yet appeared (or rather, the first sprouts have already started to appear). At the bottom of the reservoir up to the horizon we saw a dry bottom with individual pools devoid of any vegetation," the report says.

Scientists report that plants have begun to sprout in the reservoir. In just a few weeks, after the water had risen, the silt near the banks was dotted with seedlings. At first, it is not possible to identify the plants yet.

Earlier Socialportal reported that the dam at Kakhovskaya HPP caused the death of almost 150 newts, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
