From 26 to 29 May 2023, Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT), the 30th gothic music festival, takes place in Leipzig.

The Gothic Festival attracts thousands of fans from all over the world.

Today, during Pentecost, Leipzig is immersed in the atmosphere of the WGT: from 26 to 29 May 2023, thousands of fans of the gothic scene gathered in the city for the 30th anniversary Wave-Gotik-Treffen. The first highlight was the Victorian Picnic on Friday, which was particularly well attended this year.

Also, 70,000 fans enjoyed the Depeche Mode concert, which, although not an official part of the WGT programme, was attended by many festival-goers.

On the second and third days of the festival, visitors could enjoy the full WGT programme, including band performances, medieval markets, lectures, readings and parties.

Here is a gallery of the costumes of festival visitors:

WGT visitors' outfits also impress with their detailed and creative designs. Some of them are even surprisingly bright, many, of course, in black, adorned with hats or feathers.

Tonight at 7.30pm Kreign starts the final concert of the Festival at the Moritzbastai location. Later, This Eternal Decay, Machinista and The Arch will perform. And, of course, the legendary WGT closing party starts here at 20:00.
