People exploded on a mine in Chernihiv region


While fleeing, the Russian invaders planted many mines that pose a threat to civilians.
In Chernihiv region, near the village of Kienka, two men were blown up by an explosive device on Sunday, 15 October. One was killed, the second was injured. This was reported in Telegram by the head of Chernihiv regional state Administration (OBA) Vyacheslav Chaus.
He noted that the men came across a mine in the forest belt.
According to him, information about the explosion came to the emergency services at 14:57 Sunday.

Ukraine is currently the most mined country in the world. The total area of mined territories is almost 174 thousand square kilometres, which is about 30% of the country.
According to The Washington Post, after a year and a half of war in Ukraine, an area about the size of the US state of Florida is contaminated with deadly explosives of all categories. Demining is likely to require billions of dollars and years of work by professionals.
The World Bank estimates that demining Ukraine will require $37.4 billion over the next ten years. According to the State Department's 2023 report, the US has now allocated more than $95 million for the operation.
