PRC chief tells Medvedev what Russia should do about war in Ukraine

Deputy head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Beijing to discuss the implementation of agreements between the countries. This is reported by ROSSmi.

During his meeting with Medvedev, Chinese leader Xi Jinping initiated a conversation about the war that Russia has been fighting for almost three years. He pointed to the need to "defuse the situation".

On the Ukrainian issue, China has already repeatedly noted that it is necessary to firmly adhere to the three principles of preventing the conflict from spreading, preventing the escalation of hostilities, and preventing the parties from pouring oil on the fire," the Chinese leader said.

In addition, Xi pointed out to Medvedev the need to "push forward the early defence of the situation."

Xi Jinping added that China will continue to adhere to its consistent position and work with the international community to create favourable conditions for a political settlement of the crisis, the Chinese leader concluded.

For his part, Medvedev said he brought a "personal message" from Russian President Vladimir Putin:

'I want to give you greetings and best wishes from President Putin, as well as a personal message from him,' the deputy head of Russia's security council said.

The previous time Medvedev visited China was in December 2022. Then he also met with Xi and gave him a message from Putin.
