- Republicans have announced a new leader to succeed Trump

At the CPAC conference, JD Vance received 53% of the vote, cementing his status as the main Republican favourite for the US presidency. Marco Rubio rose to 35%, showing a sharp increase in support among conservatives.
US Vice President JD Vance is confidently leading among conservatives as a possible successor to Donald Trump. This was reported by The Guardian with reference to the results of a poll at the largest conservative conference CPAC in Texas.
According to the poll, Vance won 53% of the vote, cementing his status as the "heir" to Trump's policies, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio surged to second place with 35%, although last year his support barely reached 3%.
The CPAC conference also revealed an internal rift within the MAGA movement. Geopolitical disagreements over military support for Israel and US involvement in the Middle East are controversial, while high-profile resignations, including the departure from Congress of Marjorie Taylor Green, show that some of Trump's supporters criticise the administration for "foreign wars" and the scandals surrounding the Epstein dossier.
Experts note that the Vance-Rubio tandem has monopolised the trust of conservatives and the party is gradually becoming more hawkish on foreign policy.
Despite this, the isolationist wing continues to resist, and the main question now is whether the new leaders will be able to hold the unity of the Republicans until the presidential elections," the publication points out.
Analysts emphasise that the next campaign is likely to be based on a continuation of Trump's policies, but with younger faces in leading positions.
