Russia deports children from the temporarily occupied territories and prevents their return in every possible way.

Some 20,000 children are believed to have been deported. This was reported by the Ombudsman's office.

Oleksandr Kononenko, a representative of the ombudsman, recently met representatives of the UN Independent International Commission, which examines the transfer of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation and deep into the temporarily occupied territories.

Kononenko said that Russia has deported around 20,000 Ukrainian children. The occupiers do everything to ensure that these children never return to their homeland: they change their names and surnames, grant citizenship and so on.

Russia makes sure that there are no cases of reunification of Ukrainian families, deports Ukrainian children from the WTO, kidnaps children from family-type homes in Russia under the pretext of evacuation, conducts kidnapping - kidnapping Ukrainian children, gives them Russian citizenship, changes their names, surnames and other data. , patronymic and other details," the statement said.

A representative of the ombudsman added that the Russian Federation did not provide any information about the abducted children.

A total of 25,000 Ukrainian nationals have been reported missing. About 40 Ukrainian children have been returned home.

We would like to add that since the start of the full-scale invasion, 2,526 Ukrainian citizens have been freed from Russian captivity. In particular, 95 servicemen were returned home on 11 June.
