Sinegubov said that the Russians had a plan to reach Kharkiv in five days

Kharkiv, despite daily massive shelling by the Russian invaders, continues to welcome refugees and prepare for defence.
The Russian army planned to seize Volchansk in the north of the region and reach Kharkiv in five days. Oleh Sinegubov, chairman of the Kharkiv OVA, told Ukrayinska Pravda in an interview.
They did not count on fierce resistance of our military. I will say even more: according to the plans voiced by the captives, they were going to capture Volchansk in two days, and reach Kharkiv conditionally in five days," the official said.
In his opinion, the Russian offensive has run out of steam and today they have no resources to go to Kharkiv, leaving Volchansk behind them. However, according to Sinegubov, we cannot rule out the scenario of a Russian attack on Kharkiv from Sumy region.
Yes, we are working on it. According to our data, they would also still have to go as far as the Zolochevsk community. We assume that this is still possible," he said.
It should be noted that Russia stepped up its bombing of Kharkiv in December, around the time that problems with U.S. military aid began hitting the headlines. Since then, the city has come under ballistic missile strikes and constant drone attacks. Almost daily, the enemy strikes the centre of Kharkiv and its suburbs. According to the Ukrainian authorities, the main purpose of such attacks is a desire to intimidate the citizens of Kharkiv.
