Iran says it has developed a long-range missile

Iran has announced the development of a new long-range missile, called Paveh, which is allegedly capable of reaching targets up to 1,650km away.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Iranian air and space forces, said it could reach Israel. Also introducing the missile to reporters, he began threatening US ex-president Donald Trump for the assassination of General Qassem Suleimani by US forces in January 2020.

We are aiming to kill Trump," Hajizadeh said.

Speaking about the characteristics of the hypersonic missilei, Hajizadeh said, "The hypersonic missile is capable of manoeuvring outside the atmosphere. This missile has an engine that turns on and starts manoeuvring at 300-400 km from the target. The defence systems work based on the prediction of the path and future point of the missile."

The IRGC Air Force commander believes that the US is interested in destabilising the Middle East and it is because of them that the Russia-Ukraine war started and tensions between China and Taiwan have arisen.

If we are not strong, the US will involve us in the war as well," he said.

Recall that in January 2020, a US strike in Baghdad killed Iranian General Qassem Suleimani, a terrorist according to the US, a UN blacklisted member and a national hero of Iran. Suleimani is believed to have been "actively plotting attacks on US diplomats and military personnel in Iraq and throughout the region". The special operation was ordered by then US President Donald Trump.
